After working 30 years in financial services, it was time for something new. Don and I were super excited when the opportunity to purchase a local ice cream shop came to our attention. Within two months of ownership, we realized that there was a demand for ice cream products beyond just cones and cups. With my passion for food and art plus a desire to have fun and be truly unique, Wanda’s Whim was born. I began making ice cream pies and cakes, ice cream sandwiches, frappes and more.
My ice cream pies and cakes are made to order and have been enjoyed at many birthday celebrations and family gatherings. The “Louisiana Mud Pie” is a favorite.
The ice cream sandwiches I create are a great “grab and go” treat. I prepare them fresh daily and have them ready and waiting for customers in the display case.
Whistle Stop is also known as the “Home of the Smokestack” – a treat I created where I stack layers of multiple ice cream flavors, whipped cream and toppings in a tall clear cup. Customers look forward to the changing seasons for my invention! From the “shark attack” and “strawberry shortcake” smokestacks in the summertime to “pumpkin pie” during the fall and “peppermint stick” during the holiday season.
We make over 48 different flavors and Wanda’s Whim allows me to experiment and create unique flavor combos. It’s a lot of fun. I love hearing feedback from our customers. And I love making flavor combinations that our customers request that I’d never think of!
